From there, international expansion seemed a logical next step. We began promoting our products overseas, and one success led to another. We now export to more than 60 countries – in Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and Australia – all helping us achieve our aim of improving the quality of healthcare around the world. At the same time, we also kept a strong focus in the UK, helping us gain more national contracts, and we now supply a range of products to over 300 Trusts nationwide (including Primary, Secondary and Mental Health Trusts). In fact, we supply our products to every NHS hospital in the UK, as well as to a range of retail pharmacies, GP surgeries, private hospitals and care homes.

And our products and services have evolved along the way too. At first, we specialised in lubricant gels, with products such as OptiLube sterile lubricating jelly. Then, expanding our knowledge of lubrication in healthcare, and working with labs and scientists, we perfected the formulations for a range of gels for different applications. We are now specialists in the field – and the logical next step was to use this experience in urology, developing our Ugo Urology range. Over the years, we’ve also become increasingly involved in training and education – in the UK and abroad – to ensure clinicians and patients get the most from our products. Optimum Medical Support includes training guides, videos and animations, as well as clinician training days. This is a growing part of our business, and will become yet more important as our ranges expand.
